A “supersite” in the Melbourne suburb of Truganina has received a 6-star Green Star As Built v1.1 rating from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).

Located in West Park Industrial Estate, the development is the first industrial project in Australia to achieve this rating. It was developed by Frasers Property Australia and was purpose-built for contract logistics and freight management solutions company, Ceva Logistics.

To achieve this rating, the 74,546-square-metre space incorporates a number of initiatives. These include a 300Kw solar PV system, high efficiency LED lighting and daylight controls, a rainwater collection and reuse system, and active transport facilities such as bike racks, showers and lockers for staff.

Additionally, a whole lifecycle assessment of the embodied carbon was completed, which allowed Frasers Property to make design changes to reduce embodied carbon by 71 percent.

“The operational cost savings that have been created are not only significant to the bottom line for the customer, but also reduce our carbon footprint,” says Anthony Maugeri, general manager southern region for Frasers Property Australia.
