Architects Woods Bagot have aimed to conceptually adopt the New York style of living to create a residential development in Brisbane.
The firm have announced they are collaborating with Metro Property Group to develop Brooklyn on Brookes, in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, aiming to offer a unique accommodation style that ‘celebrates the cosmopolitan lifestyle of Brisbane’s inner city’.
“Born from a desire to celebrate the surroundings and its inhabitants, the design for Brooklyn on Brookes is a direct response to its immediate urban landscape,” said Mark Damant, principal, Woods Bagot.

To address the sense of place, the designers say they have aimed to relate the building to its ‘immediate scale and context’ to ‘complement the historical texture and form’ of Brookes Street and current retail edge of Ann Street.
“The acknowledgement of the wider block and its urban context is inspired the ‘New York’ approach to the design — presenting the building as a series of closely related individual towers, rather than a microcosm of a city,” added Damant.
At ground level the building setback increases towards the heritage buildings, to reveal much of the heritage structures.
Over 14 floors, the residential tower will have 191 one and two bedroom apartments, each with high end fit-outs. The residential tower will also offer a pool, and gymnasium.
It is possible to inspect a display apartment that has been built on site.
