The Queensland Government has appointed Cbus Property to develop a new tower at 1 William Street in Brisbane with Woods Bagot set to design the building.

The new commercial office tower will accommodate the Queensland Public Service and will sit on a total land area of 120, 000 sqm.

The site will be ordered into eight ‘platforms’: an urban retail laneway, intimate sub-tropical botanical spaces, a formalised entry space off William Street.

The roof is splayed while roof terracing will include landscaping elements.

Inside the design will 'encourage transparency, accessibility, flexibility, integration and collaboration' and will be built around a unique central core that allows daylight and views in at 360 degrees.

At ground level, the building will be lifted so that it appears to float over a network of pedestrian and view corridors that will connect the site to its surroundings.

Mark Damant, principal architect in Woods Bagot’s Brisbane studio said:

“Our vision for 1 William Street is that it should be emblematic on the Brisbane city skyline.”

“As an organic fluid form, the tower will also be inclusive to the state and will sensitively mediate the rich environmental, architectural and social heritage of the site and the city,” said Damant.
