Designer Deanne Crowther crafted a contemporary salon experience for Cassidy’s of Harbord Hairdressing, when she was engaged to update the beauty shop’s reception, colour and hair stations, and benchtops.
“The salon’s brief was to develop a modern, relaxed vibe using a colour palette of whites and shades of black incorporating their existing chairs,” Deanne said. “The front had to be captivating to entice prospective clients to enter the shop.”
New storage and product display areas were also required. All surfaces needed to be durable and resistant to hair-dye staining.
Deanne chose Corian® colours Designer White and Elegant Grey for the project.
Combined with oak, Corian® Designer White creates a calming light-filled space. Yet it is durable and resilient to the work environment.
Deanne said that her agency just loved how the infinite versatility and formability of Corian® let them craft cove splashbacks and seamless joins. Other, less flexible materials would be less stain resistant and quickly experience unsightly dye staining.
In fact, Corian® proved the perfect product for overcoming the project’s different hurdles. It enabled Deanne’s team to curve the salon’s C Logo on the front of the reception desk whilst still providing the shadow lighting behind and offering the ability to change the strip lighting if ever required.
As a result, the eye is drawn immediately to the Corian® Elegant Grey shadow-lit C logo, curved and melded with the hand fluting of the reception desk upon entering the salon.
Deanne’s agency also wrapped Corian® Designer White around the oak hair stations for its clean lines and durability with large mirrors reflecting natural light around the salon bringing warmth to further enhance the interior design.
Finally, the new colour station is a beautiful yet functional statement piece in the wash area. Pigeon holes for each dye tube have been made from dark timber in order to offer a colour contrast to the seamless Designer White Corian® benchtop.
The versatility of Corian® solid surfaces and fabricator Manooga’s outstanding workmanship achieved the ultimate outcome.
