Floorboards from Mafi Timber Flooring were specified for a newly built sustainable home located just outside the village of Yackandandah in North East Victoria. Set amidst rolling hills, the new home has been designed by Modscape to follow the contours of the land with minimal impact on the immediate landscape.

The home consists of seven modules organised around a central living zone with the master bedroom, guest bedroom and the children’s wing spinning off this area. Mafi floorboards in Ash Medium Brushed Natural Oil were selected for this central area including the kitchen, dining, hallway and living areas.

Installed over underfloor heating, Mafi Ash floorboards, with their golden colour and naturally oiled surface, provide a warm and cosy atmosphere. Mafi Ash Vulcano, Spotted Gum and Vertical Corten Steel cladding complement each other and create a naturally blended palette of materials. Large window frames with integrated bench seats create a sense of spaciousness and relaxation, blurring the lines between inside and out.

Aligned with the overall sustainable approach, the home also features solar panels and rainwater collection tanks. Mafi timber floors are 100% natural, made using timbers selected from sustainable forests all over Europe, and feature a lacquer-free, all natural finish and all natural glue.
