Queensland owned and operated company, Rockcote Enterprises has been
announced as a finalist in the prestigious Banksia Awards that recognise
sustainable development and practice in Australia.
Well known for its innovations in eco-friendly paints and cement
renders, Rockcote is one of only six finalists in the new award category,
Product Sustainability. The company has been nominated for the design, manufacture
and application of its range of completely natural architectural coatings.
Now in their 26th year, the Banksia Sustainability Awards showcase the
best of Australian invention, innovation and ingenuity in the sustainability
space. The Product Sustainability category recognises outstanding achievement
in improving sustainability through the design, manufacture and commercial
application of a product or products. This year’s program received more than
250 entries across 13 categories.
Rockcote’s Natural Materials range features interior and exterior architectural
coatings made using simple, natural materials and suitable for the harsh
Australian climate and contemporary architecture.
Rockcote Managing Director Bob Cameron observes that their selection as
a finalist recognises the brand’s commitment to sustainability in a business that
concerns two of the most noxious industries on the planet – cement renders and
paints. He explains that Rockcote’s Natural Materials range is made from clay
and lime, two of the longest serving building materials that nature has to
offer, helping to create beautiful interior and exterior finishes that don’t
compromise health, environment or aesthetics.
All products in the range have been developed in Australia and are manufactured
at Rockcote’s Yandina, Queensland headquarters. Rockcote has offices at Yandina
on the Sunshine Coast and Nerang on the Gold Coast.
The winners of the 2014 Banksia Awards will be announced at an event in
Sydney on 11 November.
