Vital technical support was provided by SAS International for the installation of ceilings over three distinct areas at the new NBN head office in Sydney.

Looking to bring atmosphere to each space while allowing for integrated lighting and passive chilled beams above, an assortment of different panel types was used throughout. These included various open area perforations.

To help ensure smooth installation, detailed installation guides and grid layout drawings were provided by the SAS design team. These comprehensive guides indicate the location and item number of each panel in every area on the project, and enable a quicker understanding of this project’s unique ‘tartan grid’ design.

From start to finish, support was provided by SAS to technical and installation teams on site. SAS also attended co-ordination meetings to assist with the integration of existing services and lighting.

“This project is a great example of fantastic collaboration between the architects, the builders, suppliers and tradespeople,” said design manager Lois Bateman.

“The ceiling was seamlessly integrated with existing services and early involvement on the project ensured the correct product was specified and thoughtfully designed to perfectly suit the client’s requirements.”

Crucially, SAS was able to manufacture all panels to their required bespoke sizes, before they arrived on site. This eliminated the need for on-site cutting of components, speeding up installation.
