A Darwin-based inventor is using the web to commercialise a hinge product, crowdsourcing application ideas as well as funding.
Nick Hanigan, inventor of the patented Diaxi Hinge, this month posted his project on kickstarter.com, the largest group funding platform for creative projects in the world.
The Diaxi Hinge was granted US Patent approval in June 21st 2011 (US 7963 002 B2).
The launch is framed as a test of an inventor’s skills; by video Nick Hanigan poses questions and puzzles for “fellow inventors & Futurists”.
Hanigan said: “The patent design is so simple, just about everyone will say ‘why hasn’t that been done before?”
People are then encouraged to map future demand (PCs, doors, boardgames etc.)
