The ABC Wollongong renovation was completed by Amicus Interiors and saw the broadcast and office areas refurbished along with the building’s exterior.

There were several unique elements to the project, the glass panelling on the broadcast areas had to be cut and specified to meet the requirements of angular and asymmetric walls.

The refurbishment also included soundproof walls, a new lift and a roof platform which houses the satellite equipment and a diesel generator. The diesel generator is used to ensure the radio station can continue broadcasting even during natural disasters when electricity substations aren’t working.

Amicus also internalised the existing external balconies to innovatively produce more space for the station.

Amicus used an Autex Acoustic Panel system to construct floating walls in the broadcast studios creating a sound proof environment. By implementing the Autex system, we were aware that the rest of the project would run smoothly because it was well suited to the job. It meant that we could deliver the rest of the project quickly and seamlessly.
