The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards were held in Cairns last Friday and recognised designers and builders across the country in the residential building industry.
F & J Sanders Builders was awarded the HIA Australian Home of the Year, in the $1 million plus category, for a house on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. (pictured below)
The house is three levels with four bathrooms, polished concrete flooring, pavilion and pool with an open plan design.
The building firm also took out the award for the Australian Custom Built Home of the Year. The judges were impressed with this pavilion-style house that was mostly hand built from raw materials.
Sammut Constructions won the Australian Apartment Project of the Year Award, the judges impressed by the modern and luxurious finish that was combined with environmentally sustainable features like recycled flooring and a Smart Home automation system for security and privacy.
HIA managing director Shane Goodwin said the awards are their pinnacle of housing awards and reflect the increasingly diverse and competitive Australian housing industry.
