Next year’s Gold Medal for Architecture announcement will front a new “people-focused” awards event run by the Australian Institute of Architects.
The Australian Achievement in Architecture Awards event will bring together a suite of existing annual architecture prizes previously announced in the shadow of other flagship events.
National president, Melinda Dodson, said the new ‘people-focused’ event will ensure a higher level of recognition for those recipients.
“Headlined by the Australian Gold Medal for Architecture announcement, the Australian Achievement in Architecture Awards will include the Glenn Murcutt Student Prize, Neville Quarry Architectural Education Prize, Student Prize for the Advancement of Architecture and Dulux Study Tour winners,” Dodson said.
There is also scope for the development of new prizes recognising individuals making a contribution to the profession and Australia’s built environment.
The one-hour cocktail ceremony will rotate around the country in March each year.
