An annual top 100 global survey of the world's largest architecture firms has been released with a number of Australian companies among the 2012 list.

The World Architecture 100 rankings were compiled by UK based magazine BuildingDesign through surveys.

They featured Woods Bagot in the top ten in Australasia and 14th in the world, which was the highest ranking among the Australian firms with Hassell at 30th , HBO + EMTB 38th compared with 41st in 2011 and Cox Architecture slipped from 42nd in 2011 to 45th this year.

Hassell were ranked as the highest earners in Australasia at US$94m but has the second largest amount of employees while Wood’s Bagot are the largest employer in the region with the second largest income at US$53m.

New firms to make the list were the Buchan Group which ranked fifth in Australia and 75th in the world while Suters ranked 81st and Thomas Adsett Architects were 89th.

Woodhead, BVN and Denton Corker Marshall all made appearances in 2011 but were not included on the 2012 list.
