Brisbane has approved another major tower just a couple of weeks after giving the go-ahead for its tallest building.
The City Council approved developer Grocon's proposal for a $590 million tower, which reportedly involved design collaboration with architects BVN and Donovan Hill.
The design includes plans for Brisbane's first large-scale above-ground park, with panoramic views of the city, including the Story Bridge. The aim is to achieve a six-star Green Star rating.
The project is approved on the site of the failed Trilogy project, which was scrapped during the slowdown in Brisbane's property market. In April the site was bought by Grocon.
The website Brisbane Development reports that it will be a 80,000sqm campus style office tower, designed to accommodate large floor plates.
They say development is intended to be split into two stages, in order to attract Suncorp as anchor tenant, with the lower campus levels being constructed first. The total floor area of the building is 80,230sqm which makes it one of Australia’s largest office buildings.
Included in the design is a pedestrian cross block link between Queen and Adelaide Streets.
