Architectural film CODA’s Emma Williamson has ranked amongst Western Australia’s best business entrepreneurs at the ‘40under40 Awards’.
Hosted annually by WA Business News, the 40under40 Awards set the benchmark for business leadership in Western Australia.
As co-founder and managing director at CODA, Williamson has helped shift the firm’s focus away from small-scale residencies to large public, multi-residential and urban design developments.
Williamson launched CODA in 1999 with partner Kieran Wong. In the past three years, CODA has more than quadrupled its turnover from $250,000 to $1.3 million.
In 2009, CODA was the second most awarded business at the 2009 Western Australia Architecture Awards and won first place in the Think Brick design competition.
The studio has expanded into regional areas such as Broome, the East Kimberley and the Pilbara.
“I believe my biggest accomplishment at CODA is the influence we are having on shaping the places in which other Western Australians live, work, interact, learn and live. The studio is integrally involved in creating diverse, equitable communities that are vibrant and sustainable, which is vital to our ability to attract/retain younger generations to Western Australia,” Williamson said.
“CODA proves there’s room in the State economy for flourishing creative businesses like ours. The natural resources sector is not the only career option for ambitious Western Australians. We can be celebrated for the quality of our ideas, designs, architecture and environments — not just for the things we dig up out of the ground,” she said.
