Tony Owen NDM and Turner Associates have created a vibrant and colourful addition to the vivacious area near Oxford Street.
Construction has begun on the Alta luxury apartment development in Gouldburn Street, Darlinghurst. Principle design and documentation was by Tony Owen NDM with Turner and Associates as Construction Architects, while the project is being developed by ANKA Property Group and built by Richard Crookes.
The design was inspired by the colourful character and lifestyle of the surrounding area.
The massing creates a podium that reinforces the forecourt and the streetscape, while the ground floor open plaza area brings the vibrancy of the street life into the development.
The curved lines of the exterior present a soft contemporary expression with the use of colour to accentuate the simple lines of the façade and massing.
The use of louvers to the northern façade minimises solar heat gain and creates a strong vertical expression to the upper tower element.
