A number of building, architecture and interior products are among 105 finalists recognised for design merit in the 2012 Australian International Design Awards.
Interior wall coverings, an outdoor dishwasher, ceiling fan, and intelligent door lock are among the list.
ASKO Alfresco Dishwasher Australia’s first dishwasher designed for outdoor living, is also a finalist.
Spread across nine categories (Consumer, Automotive and Transport, Architectural and Interior, Business and Technology, Medical and Scientific, Housing and Building, Heavy Machinery, Sport and Leisure and Service Design).
Presented by Good Design Australia, the Australian International Design Awards claims to be Australia's longest running design recognition program.
By rewarding companies that differentiate their products and services through design, the program aims to raise awareness of the importance of good design, encourage greater demand for well-designed products and propel Australian design to the world stage.

To reach the finals, a panel of Australian and international design experts assessed each entry against a common a set of criteria focussing on innovation, form, function, quality, safety and sustainability. Where possible, products were used as they were intended, played with, pulled apart and reassembled to create an accurate user experience and understand the design qualities.
Braemar’s ‘World's First Six Star Ducted Gas Heating Range’ is among the finalists.
Winners in the 2012 Australian International Design Awards will be announced at a ceremony on Friday 20 July 2012 in Sydney.
