The Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) in Sydney is looking to appoint someone to lead research and consulting work in the area of sustainable cities and buildings, particularly in the commercial building sector.
The ISF, at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), is known as a world leader in applied sustainability research. Established for more than a decade, ISF has worked with numerous government, industry and community organisations in Australia and internationally to incorporate sustainability into their processes and practices through interdisciplinary research.
Research principal Caitlin McGee said they were after someone who is interested in pushing boundaries.
“Someone with not just the technical skills, but the people skills required in the role to instigate change.
“They will be working with the development industry to help them embed sustainability in buildings — that could be from individual buildings through to precinct scale,” she said.
“It’s a very dynamic place to work and we try to stay at the forefront of sustainability in the sector.”
The job ad states:
“The position requires a leading researcher/practitioner in sustainable cities, precincts and buildings who is capable of conceiving and winning high quality projects, directing these projects and communicating research results to a range of stakeholders and peers. Engage with your current contacts in the commercial building field and build new networks in order to influence sustainable cities and buildings policy, practice and outcomes.
“A graduate in engineering, science, or architecture is preferred together with a postgraduate degree or equivalent experience. Previous experience in a consulting environment and in management roles is highly desirable.”
