A proposed $250 million retirement village on the far south west coast of NSW has been given the go-ahead with a new developer and a new name.

Braemar Green, previously known as the Moruya East Village development, is a residential housing and aged care facility in Eurobodalla designed by Terry Ring & Associates in Canberra.

The redesign is the result of feedback from the NSW Department of Planning and Eurobodalla Shire Council, with a new management team including chairman Gareth Hall with James Bell-Towers as managing director.

Silver Spirit Communities originally sought approval for a 500-bed aged care development including a library, restaurant and business centre at South Head Road.

The plan was refused by planning minister Kristina Keneally because the site is too isolated from the town of Moruya and there were inadequate transport facilities.

?“Braemar Green has been chosen as a name for the new development, both in honour of the original Braemar Farm site and also because the development will be centred around a recreational space that is like a traditional ‘village green’,” Bell-Towers said.

??The new design is more in keeping with Eurobodalla Council’s vision for developments in the shire, he said.? ?Construction is expected to start early next year.??The new developer is seeking to have the remainder of the project approved by the Eurobodalla Shire Council.
