Meanwhile, the inaugural Open House Adelaide held earlier in the year has been heralded as success and looks set to return next year after it saw over 5,000 people take part.
As part of the international Open House program, History SA ran the event as a feature weekend of About Time: South Australia's History Festival. Nearly fifty open buildings showcased Adelaide’s built fabric, contributing to the current community conversation about architecture, urban planning, sustainability and activating the city.
Margaret Anderson, CEO, History SA said, “we are delighted with these figures and especially the interest in the new Open House Adelaide feature event. With all the master planning of our City currently underway, it’s great to be able to contribute to the broad public discussion about the future of Adelaide.
“It certainly proved to be a successful feature of the larger About Time festival, which continues to grow each year. The month-long festival again proved successful and we hope to continue this format in 2013. “
