The short list for the creative director of the Australian pavilion at the Venice Biennale has been announced.
Twenty nine submissions were received and assessments have now been completed, with five submissions shortlisted to proceed to stage two.
The five shortlisted teams are:
EPIC AUSTRALIA — Professor Bill Taylor, Daniela Simon and the School of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts, UWA.
FIRE — NSW government architect's office (Peter Mould, Helen Lochhead, Dillon Kombumerri, Mark Wakely, Brenda Croft)
AUSTRALIAN URBANISM — Ivan Rijavec and John Gollings
ZERO — Kate Rhodes and Justine Clark
POST SPRAWL - Cameron Bruhn, Jan van Schaik, Jen Wood, Tanya Court, Cassandra Chilton, Callum Morton, Emma Williamson, Andy Sargent, Bryon Cunningham
All five teams will develop their proposals during the month of August for presentation to the Venice Biennale committee on 3 September. A decision will be made shortly after this, with an announcement made by the end of September.
