These exquisite images capture the kitsch and colourful of Sydney’s suburbs.
A Syndeysider for 20 years, Louise Hawson is reclaiming her city one suburb at a time in search of beauty in the ‘burb.
Armed with a camera and her trusty street directory, Hawson plans to explore one suburb a week for a year, seeking out the retro, rusty, repurposed and nostalgic.
Hawson’s first trip took her to the polite North Shore suburb of Wahroonga where she discovered “nostalgic heaven” at the Fifties Fair at Rose Seidler House.
Which suburb should be next? Hawson is taking suggestions via her blog.
