The international showcase for the very best digital photography of the built environment was won by a Hungarian entry this year.

Highly commended was an image taken in Sydney titled 'Flatten', while another Australian entry, of Sydney Olympic Park, was among the finalists for 2011.

The competition is run by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and celebrates the creativity of the industry, the passion of the people who work within it, and the impact their work has on those who make use of the final construction.

It is open to both professional and amateur photographers.

The old boat loader building next to the bank of the river Danube looks like a remnant of a forgotten civilization.

The Judges Said:

Makes me want to be there.

The Last Tower depicts an aging boat loading building near the banks of the River Danube in Esztergom, Hungary, its form silhouetted starkly against the pasty sky, leading Balogh to compare the structure to ‘a remnant of a forgotten civilisation’.

Comments: Everything in the picture is flat except the man downstairs and up as you jump out of the picture. It makes the image easy and everything is in good correlation.

Checking his work, the long and lonely walk across the gigantic roof by the roofing contractor at the International Broadcast Centre on the Olympic Park, Stratford (The building is large enough to house five 747’s).
