Women in architecture the focus of new television series

Sacred Spaces, a highly regarded weekly architecture program hosted by Victoria’s Channel 31, will turn its focus to women in Australian architecture for the upcoming series.

Now in its 10th season, Sacred Spaces will resume on Tuesday, August 4 at 6:30pm on Channel 31 which is run by the not-for-profit Melbourne Community Television Consortium.

Host Glen Noble will call on a host of Australia’s leading female architects for this series and will be talking about their award-winning projects. The series will focus on the contribution that women make to the discipline and discourse.

Fairfax Media reports that Debbie Ryan of McBride Charles Ryan will be on hand this season to discuss her firm’s multi-award-winning Dallas Brooks Community Primary School, as will Rosa Coy of Coy Yiontis Architects who will deconstruct the design of House 3, which won the residential category at the recent Victorian Architecture Awards.

Jackson Architecture Principal, Sara Jackson will also make an appearance and introduce her firm’s Rathdowne Place aged care facility in Carlton.
