GHD has appointed Sam Mirlatifi as technical director of Geotechnics and Tunnelling.
With 20 years of industry experience, Mirlatifi has managed design, and delivery of major projects in Australia including North East Link, WestConnex 1B (M4 East), Rozelle Interchange, Sydney Gateway and various tunnel and Metro stations in Sydney and Melbourne.
He has also been involved in major transport and tunnel projects internationally including near 80 new Metro Stations, TBM, roadheader and cut and cover tunnels.
“Sam’s extensive experience in design and background in construction, together with his design management and leadership skills, equip him to effectively direct teams to successfully deliver large and complex multidisciplinary projects.

A prominent member of the industry, Sam has been a committee member of the Australian Geomechanics Society over the last decade in various roles such as Chair and NSW Representative on the National Committee.
He is also a member of the Australian Tunnelling Society, and has published a number of industry papers.
