GHDWoodhead has announced Sebastien Menundier has joined the firm as its new Director of Architecture – Transport.

Menundier has extensive experience in the design of large-scale transport infrastructure. He has led the design development of several city-shaping projects including three of nine stations for the London Crossrail project (Elizabeth Line), and as being the Architectural Delivery Manager for the Melbourne Metro Tunnel and Stations Public Private Partnership.

According to Infrastructure Australia, public transport activity over the next five years is expected to total approximately $161 billion, peaking at $41 billion in 2022-2023.

“I’m excited to join GHDWoodhead at such an incredible time for transport in Australia with an enormous amount of public investment in infrastructure. These projects are more than just moving people or goods from A to B, they’re about improving our cities and generating long lasting benefits for the communities living and working along the line,” Menundier says.

Having previously collaborated with the team at GHDWoodhead, Sebastien says he was impressed by the passion of its highly experienced architects to achieve great design outcomes and the friendly and inclusive studio culture.

“There was also great support from across all the disciplines GHD provides and it’s this ability to draw upon and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary integrated architecture and engineering design team that’s attractive to me – the level of multidisciplinary design integration here is exceptional,” he says.

Will Delaney, GHDWoodhead Studio Director – Melbourne, believes the acquisition will prove immensely beneficial for the practice’s transport team.

“Sebastien’s passion for design, collaborative mindset, and extensive experience within transportation design delivery across a global portfolio builds on our continued commitment to providing sustainable transportation and urban growth for lasting community benefit.”

Sebastien will be based in GHDWoodhead’s Melbourne studio but will also support best practice frameworks for transport projects globally.
