With the rise in population density in Australian cities, the need for a revised approach to urban sprawl has been recognised by the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB). A change to the National Construction Code (NCC) means that timber can now be used in conjunction with pre-approved materials on mid-rise and medium-density spaces up to eight storeys.
