A perforated ceiling in an Arrow Metal honeycomb design is the shining finishing piece for fine Australian jewellery brand Sarah & Sebastian’s first-ever mall destination in Australia.
The freestanding pavilion-style store at Chadstone Mall, Melbourne, needed an innovative ceiling solution for project designer AKIN Atelier’s unique concept. Part sculpture, part retail space, the store is designed to be a statement jewellery showcase of its latest collections and core pieces, draped with polished silver surfaces and mirrors that create an eye-catching ‘disappearing’ optical illusion.
To match the inviting and intriguing space, project fitout specialists EMAC turned to Arrow Metal’s expert team to manufacture perforated ceiling panels in an airy and open design that would complement the store’s reflective visual aesthetic.
Creating perforated ceiling panels for luxury retail stores
To manufacture the perforated ceiling for Sarah & Sebastian’s first mall store, we perforated 3mm aluminium panels in pattern P629 – a modern large-scale hexagon pattern from our exclusive hand-drawn Cosmic collection.
With the largest open area of our hexagonal pattern range of 72% and featuring 28mm hexagon holes, P629 works beautifully with the store’s solid mirrored surfaces. Its open design allows plenty of natural light to filter in from the roof of the mall, whilst creating a secluded, luxurious, and elegant space for a private and personal jewellery experience befitting the brand’s SOLDERED service, where jewellery is custom-fitted and soldered onto the wrist or finger.
P629 can be punched into a variety of metals including brass and can be customised to suit exact project requirements.
