The Australian Institute of Building (AIB) has welcomed the latest
report published by the Housing Industry Association (HIA) on Australia’s housing
requirements.
Welcoming the inaugural edition of Housing Australia’s Future, AIB also acknowledged
the contribution made by HIA to researching this field and informing key
stakeholders and the public on this important issue.
AIB Chief Executive Officer Mr Robert Hunt observes that the report analyses
future building requirements under different population and real income growth
scenarios for Australia, and for each state and territory, enabling policy
makers to make informed decisions regarding the residential building industry.
He notes that the future building requirements will include educational
requirements for the future construction workforce, which is a key concern for
the AIB.
Mr Hunt also encourages relevant policy-makers and all key stakeholders
to read the report and take note of its contents.
AIB looks forward to working with HIA and other key stakeholders on how
best to manage the future educational requirements for the construction
industry in Australia.
