The
Blind Manufacturers Association of Australia (BMAA) represents the manufacturers and suppliers of blinds, awnings and shutters and aims to promote the industry as best it can.
The following mission statement summarises the association’s purpose:
“To protect, promote and support Australian manufacturers in the window furnishings industry.”
In order to promote the industry and support its members the association publicises the benefits associated with enlisting the services of its members.
These include the fact that by purchasing Australian made blinds, awnings and shutters they are keeping jobs in Australia and supporting the national economy.
Members are required to adhere to the association’s Code of Ethics, which ensures they provide customers with professional services and high quality blinds, awnings and shutters.
Association members encompass large national companies through to small family owned and operated businesses.
Members perform various roles within the industry. They may be:
- Manufacturers
- Fabric manufacturers
- Installers
- Wholesalers
- Retailers
- Home service consultants
- Sales representatives
The association represents the blinds, awnings and shutters industry when matters affecting it arise, and works tirelessly to ensure that new policies and legislation consider the needs and requirements of the industry.
In recent years the association adopted a formal corporate structure, and is now comprised of an eight person Board that meets on a regular basis to discuss issues of relevance to the blinds, awnings and shutters industry, and to organise events, training seminars and so forth for members.
