Concrete and terracotta self-venting roof tiles from the Building Centre Network are developed and manufactured in Australia, and designed to solve condensation problems.
Concrete and terracotta self-venting roof tiles are installed in pairs, approximately five metres apart, so one is merely substituting three or four pairs of roof tiles. Manufactured from durable Zincalume, hollow concrete and terracotta self-venting roof tiles ‘self venting’ roof tiles are ideal for installation on the outside of new roofs, or can be retrofitted to existing tiled or corrugated roofs.
Using the principle of convection, where hot air rises, when these products are installed the roof space can ventilate, as cool air enters the set installed above the gutter on one side of the home, and a hot air escapes from the other set of ‘self venting’ tiles vents installed on the other side just below the ridge cap.
This ventilation system works when there is no breeze, unlike the traditional protruding and rotating devices that rely on a breeze to work.
When there is a breeze, based on the ‘Venturi Principle’, even more air is silently drawn more out. Also unlike the traditional devices concrete and terracotta self-venting roof tiles tiles have no moving parts to make a noise, require any maintenance, or present potential problems with bearings that can seize up with time.
The advantage of concrete and terracotta self-venting roof tiles is that they cool buildings significantly in the warmer months, minimising the need for air-conditioning, and in the cooler months, they will keep buildings warmer and reduce condensation in the roof space.
Concrete and terracotta self-venting roof tiles are unobtrusive and almost invisible to the untrained eye. Concrete and terracotta self-venting roof tiles can be painted, or powdercoated, to blend in with the rest of the roof.
