The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) has honoured Cbus, the leading Industry Super Fund for the building, construction and allied industries, for the company’s commitment to workplace gender equality. CBus has been recognised by WGEA as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality; the citation recognises organisations for their commitment and best practice in promoting gender equality.
Cbus CEO David Atkin said the prestigious award honoured the considerable effort invested by the Fund into developing a workplace culture that supported its people and ultimately enabled them to deliver strong retirement outcomes for members.
Mr Atkin underlined the importance of gender equality and diversity, and how focussing on these factors improved their productivity, talent acquisition and success. He said, “We are committed to equity, fairness and inclusion and we seek to embody these in our workplace policies, practices, culture and values.”
Cbus’ policies to promote gender equality across all levels at the workplace include organisation-wide flexible work practices, tailored parental leave policies for both women and men, programs to increase women in leadership, initiatives to attract women into male-dominated roles, and robust analysis and correction of gender pay gaps.
WGEA Director Libby Lyons congratulated all the 2017-18 citation holders for their commitment and recognition of benefits that improved gender equality can bring to their business. Innovative initiatives by these winners focussed on issues such as flexibility, paid parental leave, supporting women in leadership and addressing gender pay gaps.
Cbus recently received the Elizabeth Broderick AO Workforce Flexibility Award at the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) Awards.
Cbus is a Flex Able Certified employer with Diverse City Careers.
