The family bathroom: the functional feel-good oasis

Smart solutions from Duravit help smooth the challenges of family life through time-saving storage products for trouble-free tidiness; child-proof functions to boost independence; and bathroom fittings made from easy-to-clean, high-quality, and robust materials.

Mirrored cabinets

Mirrored cabinets are particularly practical, storing the most important facial and dental care products at eye level, but also ensuring pleasant lighting in the bathroom with indirect illumination. Take, for example, those from the D-Neo series pictured here. (Image source: Duravit AG)

A hive of activity: the family bathroom – the focal point for getting the day off to a successful start – can sometimes get a little hectic. Well-designed product solutions are the logical choice to ensure that everyone has a smooth morning experience and leaves the house in a good mood. These combine functionality with an aesthetically appealing bathroom – for an easier family life, day in, day out.

A tidy look and ease of access for children

Stool

Reaching for the heights: a stool is essential in a family bathroom as it provides somewhere to sit while also enabling children to establish their own routine at the washing area. (Image source: Duravit AG)

A double washbasin is essential in any family bathroom to provide enough space and prevent overcrowding in the morning. Made from robust and durable sanitary ceramic, it is resistant to dirt and aggressive substances such as hair dye and nail-polish remover. Adequate storage space is another must for a functional and aesthetic home bathroom. It is easier to keep things tidy if everything has a place of its own – and this is something even the youngest members of the family can learn. In addition to large flat surfaces directly next to the washbasin, spacious vanity units below the washbasin offer space for care products and bathroom textiles.

Perfume bottles or medications can be conveniently stored in the mirrored cabinet, for instance, and out of the reach of children. Tall cabinets also offer storage space for styling accessories, towels, and cleaning products, while open cabinet elements give children independent access to their personal effects, including toothbrush, face cloth, and face cream, helping them develop a routine of their own.

Boosting independence with child-proof solutions

Thermostats with a heat-lock function come highly recommended in a child-proof bathroom for a busy family. Children can use the faucet on their own because the safety lock at 38°C protects their sensitive skin against scalding. Additionally, the MinusFlow and FreshStart functions on Duravit faucets teach even the youngest children how to handle water sparingly in the bathroom. Anti-slip tiles and shower trays additionally ensure a more secure footing on wet surfaces. The matt versions of the recyclable Sustano shower tray from Duravit feature anti-slip class C and can be installed flush with the floor to prevent trip hazards.
