German linear LED lights available from Hotbeam met the facade lighting requirements at the new University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology building in Broadway.
A challenging aspect of the brief was that the architect wanted the hollows in the fins to shine light onto the binary aluminium screen facade. A tube based lighting technology proposed originally to light up the facade was ultimately rejected due to a range of reasons.
The Hotbeam LED Linear VarioLED Flex Venus product was recommended for the application. Key features and benefits of the VarioLED Flex Venus include even and dot-free light; polyurethane blend construction; UV resistance; water-resistance to IP67; high flexibility; simple installation using strategically placed stainless steel mounting clips; and energy consumption of 7.7 watts every metre.
