Australian owned company ARA Group has acquired Leda Security Products after a year-long negotiation process. Following the acquisition, all Leda companies in Australia and China will be part of ARA Group.
Leda Security Products managing director David R. Matthews explained that the acquisition would help the Leda brand further grow and expand under ARA’s able management.
The Leda story began about a quarter of a century ago when Matthews and his son, Richard purchased a small engineering company trading as Securapost. The company manufactured a single product – a patented locking and removable bollard called Securapost (Model SP90R). The company was purchased to acquire the patent for this unique bollard.
Beginning with Securapost, Leda was able to expand their bollard range to nearly 500 models, in the process, also becoming the market leader in Australia. Simultaneously, Leda diversified into other markets, employing the expertise of a very good in-house engineering and production team to design and develop a range of market-leading products including bespoke engineered and industrial gates, bicycle parking and end of journey facilities for cyclists, HVM and vehicle access control products, and large bi and quad folding doors.
Leda’s HVM products protect numerous defence, sporting and government sites across Australia, with their expertise in this field helping the team win new challenging projects every month.
Negotiations for Leda’s acquisition commenced nearly 12 months ago and the due diligence process was completed to ensure the successful merging of Leda with ARA.
Led by chairman Edward Federman, ARA is a successful Australian owned group operating complementary manufacturing and security companies. Leda Security Products Pty. Ltd will continue to trade and operate as Leda.
