Schlegel International, a division of Tyman plc, announces the acquisition of Italian hardware company, Giesse, extending the group’s engineered components range for door and window markets around the world.
Schlegel in Australia and New Zealand is known for seals and market-leading hardware brands such as Truth. Giesse’s acquisition not only brings two well-known industry brands together but also gives Schlegel an initial presence in the manufacture and supply of hardware components to the aluminium window and door industry. The new business now offers both hardware and seals in a ‘one-stop shop’ offering, with the combined strengths expected to bring their customers new opportunities in the future.
Seals and hardware are the two most important components in the weathering performance of windows and doors; Schlegel believes their combined development is an obvious way forward given the increasingly stringent building regulations.
Giesse’s major markets are in Europe while Schlegel has a growing business in South America, China, the ASEAN, the Middle East and India. The combined business will have access and real synergy opportunities in a greater number of markets.
