At Adbri, we have a goal of net zero emissions by 2050. We continue to progress our Net Zero Emissions Roadmap focusing on three key actions.
Reduce emissions
We’ve used over 1.5 million tonnes of refuse derived fuel (RDF) as an alternative fuel source in our Birkenhead cement facility. We’ve recently applied to EPA South Australia to increase RDF usage, enabling up to 100% natural gas substitution in the calciner.
Create new products
In 2023, we launched our Futurecrete low carbon concrete that uses supplementary cementitious materials as cement replacement to lower the embodied carbon of concrete. We’re also very excited to announce a new low carbon product innovation in the coming weeks.
Collaborate
We continue to collaborate with key partners and support the Government’s commitment to commission a review of the feasibility of a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
