G-Lux, an importer of stone porcelain and timber, wanted a showroom that would highlight their products in a way that conveyed their values and passion for the industry.
In response, Studio Equator and Davidov Partners have moved beyond a standard fitout, creating a space with a fresh and quirky design.
Within the store, the interiors are simple, with minimal framing and décor allowing G-Lux’s products to steal the show. The ‘Stage Set’ installation introduces a domestic scale set and lighting for clients to test out their ideas. A green star approved carpet was used in this small area.
The furniture and finishes were also carefully considered. Natural stone and timber are used throughout, which minimised the manufacturing processes while affording the architects room and budget to capitalise on more sustainable methods of carpentry and stonemasonry.
The strength in this minimalist design is its longevity, lasting throughout the 10-year tenancy lease without outdating or losing its aesthetic quality.
INITIATIVES
-
New wiring power and lighting throughout ensures that lighting now complies with new BCA guidelines (high proportion of LED and compact fluorescent lighting)
-
Layout of the space allows for cross ventilation to minimise the need for air conditioning
-
Recyclable timber (F17 pine) were use throughout the fit out, and full panel sizes (600mm) were used for all shelving to minimise wastage
-

-
As the fitout was internal, the project did not require any alterations or modifications to the building skin or environmental systems
