How do you create a building which is going to help the environment, not hinder it? Do you install photovoltaic panels so the building is capable of creating its own energy requirements? Do you use products which are recycled and/or recyclable? All of the above?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, we want to hear what your formula is for a sustainable building. Building on the success of the 2008 awards, this year the 2009 BPN Sustainability Awards have been expanded to include Urban Design.

Submissions will be judged on several criteria, including energy, water and resource efficiency, recycled content and materials and areas of innovation.

In 2008, winners included an architect’s first project (Warwick Mihaly Architects for Hills House); a 6 star Green Star project in Melbourne (Lend Lease for the Gauge); and a 10,000 sqm office fitout (Stockland for Stockland Head Office).
