Lendlease has been appointed by Development Victoria as the construction partner to deliver The Fox: NGV Contemporary which will be the largest gallery dedicated to contemporary art and design in Australia, spanning 30,000sqm.

“We share a long-standing partnership with Development Victoria and are ready to deliver The Fox: NGV Contemporary – the centrepiece of Melbourne’s Arts Precinct transformation,” says Bill Alexandrakis, Executive General Manager at Lendlease.

“Our experienced and collaborative team will work alongside the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation, Creative Victoria, Development Victoria, and the exceptional design team led by Angelo Candalepas to create a celebrated, city-shaping cultural landmark that will create a new global destination for the arts.”

As part of the Melbourne Arts Precinct transformation, more than 13,000sqm of the future gallery designed by Australian architects, Angelo Candalepas and Associates will be display space for art and design, including exhibition galleries and an expansive rooftop terrace.

Lendlease is currently delivering the Arts Centre Melbourne redevelopment on behalf of Development Victoria, and prior to this, completed the early works package associated with the broader precinct transformation, which commenced in 2022.

Lendlease has delivered some of Victoria’s most iconic, large-scale sport and cultural precincts and projects including Ian Potter Southbank Centre, Melbourne Theatre Company and Melbourne Recital Centre, Hamer Hall and Melbourne Park.

The Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation is a Victorian Government project, delivered by Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation, Creative Victoria and Development Victoria, in partnership with National Gallery of Victoria and Arts Centre Melbourne.

Construction is expected to commence in March 2025.
