Mel Bright to headline impressive line-up of speakers at 2025 Australian Architecture Conference

Mel Bright, Principal and Founding Director of Studio Bright, has been confirmed as the final keynote speaker at the 2025 Australian Architecture Conference taking place in Sydney from 2-3 May.

Mel Bright, Principal and Founding Director of Studio Bright, has been confirmed as the final keynote speaker at the 2025 Australian Architecture Conference taking place in Sydney on 2-3 May.

Known for her practice’s acclaimed work across residential, civic, and educational projects, Bright brings a wealth of experience and a deeply considered approach to architecture. Her keynote promises to inspire and challenge our thinking on the future of design and city-making.

On Day 1 of the conference, Bright will join an impressive speaker line-up that includes Wallmakers’ Vinu Daniel, BVN’s Kevin O'Brien, SO - IL’s Jing Liu, and 51N4E’s Dieter Leyssen. Day 2 will feature Fatou Kiné Dieye, Harold Vermeiren, Scott Duncan, Damian Madigan, Laura Harding, Andreia Teixeira and Neill McClements, and more. 

Themed ‘Architecture in Action’, the 2025 program focusses on global and local imperatives such as climate resilience, artificial intelligence, and housing equity, providing a platform for innovative strategies and forward-thinking solutions to shape a more adaptable and enduring future.  

Day 1 of the Australian Architecture Conference will be hosted at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall while Day 2 will take place at the University of Sydney’s Seymour Centre. 

Complementing the conference is a Fringe Program of events across Sydney from 29 April-4 May:

  • Studio Soirées: A behind-the-scenes look at Sydney’s leading architectural studios.  

  • Sydney Unlocked: Walking tours led by project architects exploring sustainable and innovative designs across the city.  

  • Archi-Party: At Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney, where architecture meets celebration.   

  • Brunches, exhibitions, and more designed to engage and inspire attendees.
