Woods Bagot-designed $40M redevelopment to transform Enex into Perth’s first urban-commercial village

A brand new dining precinct is set to open in the heart of Perth’s CBD with redevelopment works in full swing at the ISPT-owned Enex shopping centre, which will be launched as the city’s first urban-commercial village this year.

Property fund manager ISPT, which owns both Enex and the adjoining A Grade office tower at 100 St Georges Terrace, recently unveiled their vision for the precinct. A major highlight of the project is the new City Canteen that will house seven food and beverage venues, including Hi Thai, Mi Shanghai and Soul Origin who will be returning to their CBD stomping ground in the building, alongside new arrivals The Cutting Board and CP Curry House.

Boasting a view over St Georges Terrace with an abundance of natural lighting, hungry CBD dwellers will have the opportunity to connect in the City Canteen, with the adjoining Central Lounge providing a complementary space to relax, unwind and linger longer in the heart of Perth city. With 400+ seats, the two venues are expected to become a landmark destination in the CBD.

As part of the new urban-commercial village, Enex will also become home to more than 30 retailers across two floors, adding to the array of curated retailers in its premium retail district.

Marking the first redevelopment of its kind in Perth, the $40-million project will transform Enex into a buzzing urban hub, connecting two of the CBD’s flagship commercial districts through tailored retail amenity.

The redevelopment masterplan, designed by Woods Bagot and constructed by ADCO Construction, will coincide with an upgrade to the 100 St Georges Terrace office tower to deliver a mixed-use space with added functional amenities and state-of-the-art design to create a one-of-a-kind CBD experience. 

The precinct is targeting a NABERS Energy 5.5 Star rating and a NABERS Water 4.5 star rating, and has developed a waste strategy in accordance with NABERS Waste guidelines and Better Buildings Partnership Operation Waste guidelines. A new 60kW solar façade system is also being installed on the building. 

The works to deliver Perth's urban-commercial village commenced in late 2023, with the development expected to open for business in autumn this year.
