Multi award winning architects BKK (Black Knott Kosloff) approached Concrete Blonde with two projects. BKK director Simon Knott's own home in South Yarra was receiving an extreme makeover as was a client's home in Toorak.

Simon specified matt black concrete benchtops in 50mm for the perimeter and 75mm for his island bench. in contrast an ivory tone was chosen for the Toorak kitchen and bathroom. Again a relatively heavy edge profile of 70mm was selected. To reduce weight only the edge was cast in full thickness.

All benchtops were cast in-factory, face down on mid-sheen formwork, water cured for four weeks, buffed, sealed and transported to site.

BKK were most impressed with Concrete Blonde's ability to produce an item of such visual and textural beauty using such a potentially difficult-to-control material.

In speaking with our toorak clients recently, they commented on the relaxed feelings the surface engendered compared to the granite they previously had.
