Granito rubber flooring from Spectrum Floors met the brief for design and performance during the rebuild of the Armidale state high school in New South Wales.

Designed by NBRS Architecture for the NSW Department of Education, the Armidale school is a state-of-the-art, environmentally aware, community connected educational institution with a history that goes back to 1921.

The new high school, which combines Armidale High School and Duval High School, accommodates approximately 1500 students. The refurbishment involved the integration of the heritage section at the front with the new buildings, wrapping around an expansive, open gathering/socialising area.

The design brief sought to promote the wellbeing of all students through connected indoor and outdoor areas that would allow seamless transitioning between different learning environments.

NBRS Architecture selected Spectrum’s Granito rubber flooring because it delivered the performance required for the busy campus and also met the critical timing on the project.

Being GECA certified, Granito rubber flooring has been assessed to meet environmental, human health and ethical impact criteria. Granito’s low VOC content ensures healthier air quality while its high durability makes it a perfect fit for the heavy traffic floor application.

Rubber flooring has been widely used in the education sector, ranging from high schools and universities to early learning centres and TAFE institutes.
