ASSA ABLOY Australia has announced an upgrade of Lockwood Overture brass 59 levers in accordance with Australian Standard AS AS1428.1 Design for access and mobility Part 1: General requirements for access - New building work.

This standard requires that the finger clearance on a lever or handle used on the continuous accessible path is between 35mm and 45mm when measured from the centre of the grip section.

The continuous accessible path of travel is defined as an uninterrupted path of travel to, into or within a building providing access to all accessible facilities. Effective immediately, all Lockwood door furniture featuring the 59 lever can be used in these applications.

To ensure the 59 lever complies with the finger clearance requirement of this standard, two different variations of this lever will be supplied for use on Lockwood Artefact and brass door furniture.

Lockwood Australia is a major supplier of commercial and residential door hardware, door furniture and security solutions.
