Rosehill TPV rubber surfacing keeps the action going at Tamworth Regional Playground

The Tamworth Regional Playground is designed to offer a remarkable range of activity and play experiences in a natural setting, keeping people of all ages engaged in a fun and action-packed environment.

Commissioned by Tamworth Regional Council, the $2.2 million playground offers a massive array of features including a Kompan Skywalk structure with 392 square metres of Rosehill TPV rubber surfacing from Surface Designs, installed by Synthetic Grass and Rubber Surfaces Australia.

The alfresco area at Hopscotch Restaurant & Bar brings together family and friends to enjoy great food and drinks in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Featuring separate zones for different age groups, the playground also offers a picnic and BBQ to encourage families to celebrate the outdoors.

Tamworth Region Mayor Col Murray said the equipment was selected to suit children of all abilities, and included a wheelchair-accessible carousel and even a mammoth swing where one can safely sit in the middle of the net and enjoy the swing.

Built on an environmentally rehabilitated site, the Tamworth Regional Playground is part of the region’s first ‘smart’ precinct, developed in a joint pilot project between the Council and Telstra, which sees the integration of technology to improve efficiencies and user experience for lighting, parking and waste monitoring.

From a user experience perspective, the precinct offers visitors free Wi-Fi, motion-sensor controlled smart lighting that moves into an ambient state with no activity, a CCTV network and a duress button for user safety.

Key features of the playground include the biggest skywalk in the Southern Hemisphere measuring over nine metres tall and fitted with three giant slides and four towers; an outdoor gym; a bike track; a splash pad; a mammoth swing; a wheelchair accessible carousel; a senior play zone; a sand play area; a junior play zone; a seated flying fox; an embankment slide; a play town; and a café/restaurant.
