NEXTDC’s P2 Perth is a hyperscale cloud colocation facility located in Perth’s CBD. This state-of-the-art data centre offers 10,000 square metres of technical space and delivers 20 megawatts of power, making it the largest in Western Australia.

Designed by Hames Sharley and constructed by Multiplex, P2 Perth illuminates the night sky with NEXTDC’s vibrant corporate colours, an aesthetic that is extended indoors with striking ceiling designs by SAS International.

The P2 Perth project posed several design challenges and also provided a platform for Hames Sharley to push creative boundaries, especially with the ceiling design. Key challenges included:

  • Designing a ceiling system with rhomboid-shaped panels
  • Integrating corporate colours into the ceiling designs
  • Seamlessly incorporating services while ensuring high acoustic performance

To meet these challenges, the SAS330 metal ceiling system was selected for its flexible customisation capabilities. The rhomboid-shaped panels were crafted to align with the design team's vision, and the custom service channels that support the removable tiles were provided in white and black finishes for different areas. A standout feature is the Black SAS330 with red neon lighting in a hallway, creating a distinctive and vibrant space.

SAS Mesh was utilised in red and black to reinforce the corporate colour scheme and to enhance the industrial tech look desired by the design team.

Supplied by SAS International’s distribution partner in WA, Progressive Materials, the project also focused on sustainability and renewable energy and has also received multiple awards, including:

  • 2021 Winner Master Builders Association of Western Australia Excellence in Construction Awards: Best Project and Best Industrial Building $50-$100M
  • 2021 Winner Property Council of Australia WA Property Awards: Best Commercial Property
