Sixty Martin Place, a premium office tower in the financial hub of Sydney CBD is a 6 Star Green Star rated building designed by Hassell. The office building constructed by Lendlease features custom Venetian blinds from Shade Factor with integrated controls that contribute to the energy efficiency of the 31-storey tower.

Designing a premium office space in Sydney is a complex process that requires the facade’s thermal performance and natural light to be balanced with the celebrated views of the harbour city. Hassell engaged Shade Factor to provide a solution that could reflect a high percentage of incident solar radiation while limiting the overall façade reflectivity.

The specialised WAREMA mill slat Venetian blinds return a high percentage of the UV and infrared components of the solar spectrum to the exterior while redirecting daylight into the workspaces. The interior slat surface is perforated with a matte, non-reflective finish to provide views even in the closed position.

The 2800 blinds installed by Shade Factor over 31 levels are driven by a WAREMA KNX control system with full sun tracking and shadow modelling capability integrated with the BMS for administrative functions and accessible via the tenant portal.

WAREMA blinds and controls are a major contributor to the energy efficiency of this premium 6 Star Green Star project.
