Decor Systems products help realise design vision for Melbourne Airport hotel

The Novotel and Ibis Styles Hotel, designed by Fender Katsalidis (architecture) and Woods Bagot (interiors) is completed. This 464-room development marks the first internationally branded, new-build hotel at Melbourne Airport in 20 years, catering to the growing demand for travel accommodations.

Woods Bagot Associate Principal Sarah Alessi describes the design in an article here as “a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the airport”, featuring a Melbourne-inspired aesthetic that connects guests to the city from the moment they arrive.

DecorZen panels were chosen for the hotel’s lobby for their exceptional ability to absorb up to 88% of incidental noise, creating a tranquil environment. Painted at the Decor Systems factory in 2PP Dulux Spartacus tones inspired by regional Victoria, the panels complement the natural and calming design.

Certified by GECA and FSC, the DecorZen panels deliver on sustainability targets as well as acoustic goals.

Additionally, DecorEagle panels, finished in Blackbutt natural timber veneer, were specified throughout the hotel, offering a luxurious linear aesthetic. Manufactured using high-quality MDF, these panels boast a continuous grooved design that elevates contemporary spaces with timeless sophistication.

DecorSlat Ali aluminium beams, with their pre-finished P/C coating, bring the warmth of timber to the pool and leisure areas whilst being incredibly durable. Ideal for high-moisture environments, DecorSlat Ali is non-combustible and features a concealed clip-on fixing system, ensuring a seamless and polished look. An ideal fit for wellness centres, combining functionality and style.
