Large span AWS systems with uninterrupted glass help Blue Mountains holiday retreat capture glorious views

Everything about the Spicers Sangoma, a world-class holiday retreat in Bowen Mountain, NSW on the eastern slopes of the Blue Mountains says bliss. With colours that perfectly mirror the honey sunsets and grey-green palette of the surrounding bush, it’s the perfect getaway for people in need of a recharge.

The team at Custom Aluminium Windows NSW were consulted to ensure the perfect windows and doors were chosen for the project.

In close consultation with the owners, AWS Series 618 MAGNUM sliding doors were chosen. With a massive span of 12 metres and a height of three metres, they allow a seamless transition onto the stunning outdoor deck – not to mention the sweeping views. In the height of summer, they can also be thrown wide open to make the most of the cool breezes and reduce the need for costly air-conditioning.

This project even included a clever corner sliding door, maximising connection with the surrounding bushland.
Occasional gale-force winds and heavy rains meant high weather performance double-glazing was essential.

The commercial-grade Series 462 Archi sliding windows incorporate bold frames and thick, strong sashes designed to carry large spans of heavy-duty glass.

Series 400 CentreGLAZE frames are ideal for commercial applications and easily accept a variety of opening sash options. They’re also compatible with various weather-resistant thresholds for external doors, meaning durability is guaranteed – no matter what the wild Blue Mountains throws their way.
