The new campus of Coburg Special Development School, designed by Gray Puksand, accommodates close to 100 students with intellectual disabilities, sensory impairments, and autism. The school is divided into early, middle, and senior years, each forming unique ‘Learning Neighbourhoods’ that encourage development and provide customised learning environments.

With interconnected buildings and walkways, Gray Puksand created unique areas designed to enrich sensory learning. The campus layout prioritises seamless indoor-outdoor transitions and adaptable spaces, fostering self-regulation and inclusive recreation. Zenith supplied a range of furnishings to support staff and student wellbeing.

The innovative Denn chair offers a unique task chair experience. Eliminating the need for manual adjustments with a patented weight compensation mechanism, Denn intuitively adapts to each user. With sustainability at its core, Denn contains over 58% recycled content. Its 3D knit fabric uses 100% post-consumer recycled polyester, and includes upcycled marine plastic. Coburg Special Development School opted for the Denn chair for private meeting areas.

Complementing the adaptive learning and development areas, Zenith provided a selection of Precinct ottomans in various sizes and shapes. Light and mobile, Precinct ottomans are an ideal option for quick catchups or a comfortable perch for reading or relaxing.

Designed for both function and form, its shell is crafted from 95% post-consumer recycled polypropylene, making it a highly eco-friendly option.

In collaboration with Gray Puksand, Zenith’s thoughtfully selected furnishings enhance the dynamic learning environment at Coburg Special Development School. From the intuitive Denn chair in private meeting areas to the versatile Precinct ottomans and eco-friendly Jac chairs, each piece supports the school’s focus on student wellbeing, sensory engagement, and sustainability. Together, the design and furnishings create a harmonious setting where students and staff can thrive.
